Day 11: A N G E R S
We set off from Tours and make our way towards, Angers. First
stop, Loches, a historically famous chateau known for its dungeons and military advantages. There are A LOT of stairs and Joad entertains us with the number of stairs we have climbed so far.Lunch break, postcards are filled out and tummies satisfied, yet again. Joad is trying everything! Impressive.
We finally leave for Usse. And lo and behold, we finally discover the famous chateau that inspired the tale, Sleeping Beauty! All the way through the Loire, we keep thinking we 've found it...but now we really have this time! Honest! Really!!
It's very cool and beautiful. The perfect castle. It is filled with "scenes" of the era and highlights what it looked like, way back when. There is another tower which leads to a separate wing which has several rooms on display to show off the tale of Sleeping Beauty. It's complete with wax figures and everything! Fun. But the tower climb and very narrow passageways make it difficult to move with any kind of speed!
Well, save the last stop on our tour, we are now officially done with chateaux. It's hard to believe we have seen so many in a few days but it's been wild! And man, have we walked! No need to worry about the food consumption if we keep this walking up!
We are now making our way to Angers. We have a fair distance to cover but make it in time for dinner at the hotel. We have short walk around the city to work off some supper and see that this, too, is a civilized community and they have TWO internet cafes!
Oh yeah...we know what tomorrow will bring!
