Day 8: C H A T E A U X
WOW!
This is fun! We are seeing the beautiful Chambord first. It's huge! And they have an art exhibit themed around the environment inside of the castle walls so you get two for the price of one! This is a great, grand castle and it's just so BIG. We have an hour to check it out and then we are meant to go on to two others! The grounds are just immense and the view is spectacular.Next we visit Cheverny which is fairly close to Chambord. We are nearing lunch time. BUT as we finished off visiting Cheverny (still inhabited by a family) we saw that this castle was the inspiration for a castle featured in Tin Tin
AND they had a very cool exhibit (on the grounds but in another building) bringing some of the comic book pages to life. It was SO cool! We had a ball in there. But getting very hungry made us move faster. We had a bite to eat in a lovely little cafe/bistro beside Cheverny and then took off to see another chateau, Chenonceau. This one was just as
amazing as the other two! The tree lined walk was beautiful; the water way was exquisite; the gardens were amazing and the view was outstanding! We made a turn around the gardens but had to pass on going through the Labyrinth as we were running out of time.We had to rush back to Blois to have supper at the Inn we stayed at yesterday, so we can get Murat to the station for the last train back to Paris.
A whirlwind day and A LOT of walking! Good exercise if we keep up with the eating we've been doing.
